Helpful Resources for Disability (Employment) Awareness Month

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, and of course we want to emphasize the capabilities of our friends with disabilities in the workforce, but we particularly want to emphasize their part in the Body of a local church and how you can come alongside them. We want to help you and your church grow in understanding the needs and roles people with disabilities can have in your church!

The following are some books, articles, and podcasts we’ve reviewed that can be an encouragement to you in ministry:

Books

Suffering in 3-D: Connecting the Church to Disease, Disability, and Disorder (2019) by John Kwasny

Disability and the Gospel: How God Uses Our Brokenness to Display His Grace (2012) by Michael S. Beates

Disability in Mission: The Church's Hidden Treasure (2019) edited by David C. Deuel, Nathan G. John, et al.
